Michael attended law school at The University of Tulsa and obtained his J.D. in 2009. His law school coursework included Personal Injury, Labor Law, and study of the National Labor Relations Act. He is admitted to practice in the State of New York.
Michael T. Szczygiel has an established knowledge of the issues facing members of the Western New York building trades. He is the son and brother to three Ironworkers Local 6 Journeymen and brother-in-law to a Carpenters Local 276 Journeyman. He is an aggressive advocate for injured working men and women and is a subscribing member of the United Spinal Association, Western New York Chapter, and National Spinal Cord Injury Association, Greater New York Chapter.
His experience includes interning with the City of Buffalo Law Department and union contract analysis and labor relations at the Buffalo Public Schools Legal Department. An avid political operative, Michael has also worked for a number of campaigns to varying degrees, including a Communications Director appointment in 2013. In 2014 he was engaged on a New York State Supreme Court campaign. He passed the New York State Bar Exam while working full-time and without the aid of a paid study program.
In addition to his personal injury practice, Michael provides pro bono services answering unemployment insurance questions, filing claims and attending hearings.
